When I was a child, the earth was gradually covered with asphalt. When I recall the savage earth beneath the asphalt that was drying and turning gray, gentle and warm memories come back to me. It is similar to painting. Painting is embarrassing. Humans, who cannot become either animals or machines, may be able to maintain balance by living with "embarrassment." Paintings and drawings made from pigments made from soil collected in Oita Prefecture and using classical techniques of mural painting such as egg yolk tempera and fresco will be exhibited.

A painting hidden in the Karahana Department Store

By weight, sold at Hana Department Store, 1st and 2nd floors, 4343-1 Nakatoji, Oita City. *During the event, only the 1st floor will be open to the public on days when there is an event on the 2nd floor. [Dates and times when the exhibition on the 2nd floor can be viewed] 14th (Tue), 15th (Wed), 16th (Thu) PM, 21st (Tue), 22nd (Wed), 24th (Fri), 28th (Tue), 30th (Thu)
On the 21st (Tue), we will also be selling drawings that are not on display. We will be in the gallery all day. The parking lot to the left of the store is the "Omoi Parking Lot." If you are able to walk, we ask that you park your car at the Hetsugi Honmachi Streetscape Parking Lot, which is 210m away.
The exhibition will be held in a historic wooden building. I picked up the colors and shapes of the building and the Karahana Department Store, and assembled them to create a harmony between the space and the paintings. Inspired by Oita's rich nature and the energy of the earth, I will exhibit 26 oil paintings, acrylic paintings, and drawings. I hope they will be a great companion while you shop or have lunch.
By painting, words from my subconscious emerge. I think that the uncertainty of existence always appears in my paintings. It is an approach to feeling the mass of things, and also a record of a dialogue with the world. With stones, animals, the sun, and myself. Even without exchanging words, by still feeling each other, I can feel that I am not alone in this world. With admiration for such beautiful time. I look forward to quietly encountering the various lives of people that unfold at the Hana Department Store.
